Attention, measured by a Muse EEG headband, becomes a flame that grows and falters with the participant's focus.
NeuroFlame is an EEG based neurofeedback experiment developed around sustained attention. Using a Muse EEG headband, the participant's attention was transformed into an immediate visual metaphor: a flame that grew as attention increased and changed behaviour when attention was disrupted.
Instead of showing EEG activity through graphs or numerical values, NeuroFlame turned an invisible cognitive process into something participants could immediately see and try to act on in real time. The work explored attention training and neurofeedback, including possible applications to attention difficulties.
Brain activity is measured, becomes a flame, is perceived, someone tries to control it, and the brain activity changes again. One of the first Vincent's visual experiments with feedback loop principles, that later became central to the Dream Machine project.
